Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker (Refresher Course)The goal of the Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Refresher Course) is to revive essential knowledge of cargo handling obtained during the initial Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations training. The program of the Refresher Course is developed within the same STCW requirements (Section A-V/1).

Objective:

The key objectives of the Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (Refresher Course) are to renew skills and knowledge developed throughout the initial course which include, but are not limited to:

• Extensive revision of various tankers layout and equipment;
• Ability to recognize cargo types, their physical and chemical properties as well as potential hazards connected with volatility, toxicity or flammability;
• Cargo system structure and operational procedures knowledge refresher module;
• Detailed review of safety, fire and pollution prevention procedures.

Course content:

• Tanker basics review;
• Oil and chemical cargos properties hazards;
• Cargo systems and operations;
• Fire fighting on oil and chemical tankers;
• Pollution prevention and emergency procedures, case studies.

Target Audience: Officers and ratings responsible for cargo handling on oil and chemical tankers requiring revalidation of their Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations certificates.

Pre-requisites: Valid Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations certificate.

Duration: 3 days.
