Basic Training for Chemical Tanker The Basic Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations training is a previous version of the Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations course, but some training centers still have it in their curriculum for officers and ratings assigned with cargo handling duties on board of chemical tankers. The syllabus is nevertheless compliant with the STCW Section A-V/1, paragraphs 2 to 7 requirements, so the course delivers detailed overview of the chemical tanker cargo operations.

Objective:

The main goal of the Basic Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations is to provide students with the basics of the chemical tanker cargo handling operations as well as safety precautions connected with transportation of chemical cargo in bulk.

Course content:

• Chemical tanker design, systems and equipment;
• Chemical cargos types and characteristics;
• Risks and hazards of chemical cargos in bulk – volatility and toxicity;
• Cargo system structure;
• Cargo operations basics;
• Fire prevention and safety procedures;
• Pollution prevention and MARPOL requirements.

Target Audience: Management and Operational level officers, ratings, cadets, trainees planning an employment onboard of chemical tankers.

Pre-requisites: Valid Basic Safety Training (BST) certificate.

Duration: 5 days.
