The Basic Sea Survival training is targeted at providing delegates with the set initial surviving skills which includes preparation to ship abandonment, rescue at sea practices, knowledge of life saving equipment available onboard, philosophy of survival at sea and boats, rafts and nets handling techniques. The course includes theoretical lectures, practical pool exercises and case studies.

Objective:

The key objective of the Basic Sea Survival training is to ensure that offshore personnel is able to participate actively in their own survival at sea; are aware of the essential life-saving techniques and can provide assistance to their colleagues in the rescue at sea operation.

Course content:

• Introduction to sea survival;
• Preparation to ship abandonment;
• Life-saving appliances;
• Life raft deployment;
• Life boat deployment;
• Survival at sea, swimming techniques;
• Controlling stress;
• Practical exercises (jumping, making formations, person transfer, scramble net, etc.).

Target Audience: Offshore personnel.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 1 day.

Validity: 3 years, refreshed through the Basic Sea Survival (Refresher)training.
