Combined Rigger, Banksman and Slinger Training proves to be a convenient opportunity to receive a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the lifting operations within one course. Moreover, if the training is completed at the OPITO accredited training center delegate might join both OPITO Banksman and Rigger certification schemes as he will be granted the Stage 1 certificates upon completion of the training. In case of non-OPITO training, students are guaranteed extensive theoretical background and practical of lifting with various loads.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the Rigger, Banksman and Slinger Training delegates:

• Identify and apply at the worksite important points of current lifting legislation;
• Are aware of the hazards entailed by deck lifting operations; can carry out risk analysis and make lifting plan;
• Work competently with lifting equipment;
• Possess radio and hand gestures communication techniques;
• Understand basics of slinging operations, ratio between angles and tension;
• Demonstrate load inspection and assessing skills;
• Are able to carry out and control lifting operations;
• Demonstrate competence in clearing the worksite after the loading and lifting and restoring order.

Course content:

• Present lifting legislation and regulations;
• Roles and responsibilities of the Rigger, Banksman and Slinger;
• Preparation for lifting: inspection of the gear, safety procedures;
• Radio and hand gestures communication with the crane operator;
• Lifting and slinging practical exercises;
• The role of a banksman and slinger in a planned lift;
• Rigger role and risk management;
• Lifting operations carrying out and control;
• Post operational debrief; restoring of the worksite.

Target Audience: Personnel interested in the career of Rigger Banksman or Slinger and requiring qualification within one course.

Pre-requisites: None.

Note: if the OPITO approved training provider is chosen for the course delegate will be awarded with the OPITO Stage 1 Banksman and OPITO Stage 1 Rigger certificates.  Both are valid for 2 years. During this time candidates are required to complete special sections in the OPITO Stage 2 logbooks which will also be provided at the end of the course.

After the completion of the offshore Stage 2, candidates can proceed to the OPITO Banksman and Slinger Stage 3 Competence Assessment and / or OPITO Rigger Training Stage 3 Competence Assessment and acquire internationally recognized certificates.

Validity: 2 years* in case of OPITO certificates.
