The BOSIET with CA-EBS is an OPITO training developed to introduce personnel joining offshore oil&gas industry to the specific hazards related to the offshore installations and vessels as well as safety management concepts which are imposed there. Delegates also are familiarized with the survival techniques and special equipment associated with the transfer to and from offshore worksites.

Objectives:

Upon the completion of the BOSIET with CA-EBS training delegates will:

• Be aware of typical offshore hazards and risks to people and environment connected with them;
• Know basic offshore safety regulations and will be able to implement safety management concepts onboard/at the worksite;
• Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment, perform helicopter escape safely and efficiently;
• Be competent in sea survival and first aid;
• Operate firefighting equipment and be skilled in confide space escape and rescue techniques including smoke filled areas;
• Know the theory of CA-EBS operation and will be able to demonstrate its donning and usage during simulated helicopter ditching.

Course Content:

• Offshore safety induction module;
• Fire Fighting and emergency equipment;
• Self Rescue from confided and smoked filled spaces;
• Sea Survival incl. First Aid techniques;
• Helicopter Safety and Escape and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) including theory module (differences between CA-EBS and re-breather, risks associated with the use of the system) and practical exercises with CA-EBS equipment.

Target Audience: Newcomers to the offshore industry, particularly offshore personnel planning to work in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Pre-requisites: Please note that starting from 26th of March 2018, OPITO implements new entry requirements for the CA-EBS training programs. The full OGUK medical and OGUK ‘fit to train’/’not fit to train’ certificates will be required. For more information, please refer to OPITO Category-A-EBS- FAQ.

Duration: 3 – 4 days.

Validity: 4 years.

Note: The BOSIET with CA-EBS training certificate is acceptable in the North Sea Sector (UK, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands under the Mutual Recognition of Basic and Refresher Safety and Emergency Preparedness Training Agreement, Annex B. However, Escape Chute Training (ECT) will be required to enter Norwegian sector. Please refer to the Annex B of the document for the additional information.
