AGT 3The purpose of the Authorized Gas Tester Level 3 (OPITO) course is to prepare Gas Testers for the roles of Safety Watch in accordance with the OPITO standards. During the training candidates will obtain necessary skills such as working within the Permit system and relevant regulations as well as essential knowledge of toxic and flammable gases behavior.

Objective:

The learning objectives of the Authorized Gas Tester Level 3 (OPITO) include:

• Revision of safety aspects associated with the hot work;
• Familiarization with duties and responsibilities of Safety Watch;
• Adherence to organizational, statutory and operational requirements during Safety Watch at the worksite;
• Sufficient knowledge of PPE and RPE;
• Understanding of the Permit to work system;
• Profound knowledge of properties and behavior of various flammable and toxic gases;
• Correct practical application of gas detecting equipment;
• Understanding of the importance of regular communication at the worksite;
• Meticulousness in document completion.

Course content:

• Hot work basics;
• Safety Watch’s duties;
• Organizational and statutory requirements;
• Operational procedures;
• PPE and RPE, usage and maintenance;
• Permit to work system;
• Flammable and toxic gases, physical properties and behavior;
• Gas detectors: selection, set up and maintenance;
• Communication during Safety Watch;
• Interpretation of measurement results, documentation completion.

Assessment: the Authorized Gas Tester Level 3 (OPITO) training included a Final Assessment at the end of the course. The test consists of 11 questions to be completed within 60 minutes. Delegates must achieve 100% score to obtain the OPITO certificate.

Note: This course allows 2 additional remediation attempts at the assessment if the delegate fails at the first attempt with the score between 80 – 99%.

Target Audience: Personnel employed for the role of Safety Watch.

Duration: 2 days.

Validity:  3 years.
