The Anchor Handling Safety Training is developed for Deck or Engine officers taking up positions onboard of AH vessels or just planning to get a job there. The course will be especially interesting for delegates will little or no offshore experience as it provides basic understanding of anchor handling operations and describes in-detail essential equipment and necessary safety procedures.

Objective:

The key objective of the Anchor Handling Safety Training is to provide officers staring their carrier on Anchor Handling Vessels with basic knowledge of AH operations in conjunction with safety procedures attributed to them. During the course delegates also discover the layout and equipage of AH vessel, main industry legislation framework.

Course content:

• Anchor-handling industry regulations;
• AHV layout, winch design and deck equipment;
• AH tools: wires, ropes, shackles, links, etc.;
• Decking anchors, altering fluke angles and inspecting anchors prior operations; chain handling;
• Introduction to Shallow and Deepwater Anchor Handling operations, buoy systems;
• Towing operations;
• Wire stoppers and Sharks Jaws;
• Anchor handling vessels capabilities: position keeping and stability requirements;
• Winch operations;
• Safety practices on board of AHV, risk assessment and contingency planning.

Assessment: Full attendance and active participation are required to be awarded with a course certificate.

Target Audience:  Deck and engine officers starting their carrier offshore, cadets and students of maritime universities.

Note: Upon completion of the course delegates might be interested to proceed to the  Anchor Handling Simulator training.

Pre-requisites: None.

Duration: 4 – 5 days.
