As the Oil&Gas companies move deeper into the sea in their constant search for carbohydrates, the offshore industry’s demand for competent anchor-handlers remains equally intensive. In this light the Anchor Handling Deepwater Training is particularly convenient since it allows training all the intricate AH operations, which in deep sea often require a number of vessels and high accuracy in anchor deployment, in a safe simulator environment but with impressive behavioral realism.

Objectives:

The main goal of the Anchor Handling Deepwater Training is to provide delegates with the sufficient knowledge and enough simulator time to enable them to carry out deep water AH operations safely and efficiently. The above includes, but isn’t limited to:

• Satisfactory ship handling and decision making skills as well as ability to conduct a risk analysis prior to AH activities;
• Knowledge of all key industrial guidelines and safety regulations;
• Competence to carry out deep water anchor handling operations;
• Skills to act as winch operator;
• Ability to describe design and function of Shark Jaws and Karm Forks;
• Knowledge about existing anchor types and skills to run and retrieve an anchor using PCP/PCC systems;
• Demonstrating effective communication practices with the team and rig.

Course content:

• Planning AH deepwater operations and risk management analysis;
• Layout and equipage of Anchor Handling vessels;
• DP systems on AHV, requirements to position keeping;
• Winch operations: characteristics, functions, calculations;
• Wire and chain stoppers: shark jaws and karm forks, towing pins;
• Modern anchor types, running and retrieving anchors;
• Operations with the PCP/PCC;
• Chasing out and back, fishing and grappling procedures;
• Setting up a pre-laid system;
• Working with VLA (Vertical Load Anchor);
• Rig move and putting a rig on a pre-set;
• Shiphandling of AHV, decision making and problem solving;
• Communication module: teamwork training between commanding officer –winch-operator; bridge-rig; bridge-deck.

Assessment: Full attendance and careful completion of simulator tasks are required to obtain the course certificate.

Target Audience: Nautical officers who require to upgrade their AH skills.

Pre-requisites: Certificate of Anchor Handling Basic Training (Shallow Water) course or minimum of 6 month of sea-going experience on board of AHV is required to be admitted for the training.

Duration: 5 days.
