The Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations (Refresher Course) is based on the standards of competence marked in Table V/1-1-3 of the STCW Code.  The course is aimed at tanker personnel responsible for cargo handling who require revalidation of their tankerman certificates.

Objective:

The goal of the Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations (Refresher Course) is to refresh knowledge and skills acquired during the initial training taking into account all important aspects of oil tanker operations i.e. cargo loading/unloading, care in transit, tank cleansing and other cargo related procedures.

Course content:

• Physical features and chemical properties of oil;
• Oil tanker design, systems and controls;
• Oil cargo potential hazards;
• Cargo handling simulator exercises;
• Oil carriers Safety Management System and emergency procedures;
• Pollution prevention.

Assessment: written or online assessment and simulator based practical task.

Target Audience: Tanker personnel (officers) involved in cargo handling or tank cleansing.

Pre-requisites: Valid Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Cargo Operations certificate.

Note: Some training providers will require applicants to complete a preliminary test prior to be admitted for the training.

Duration: 12 days.
