ADAS Onshore Supervisor Course

The ADAS Onshore Supervisor course is designed to deliver training and certification necessary for the safe and competent supervision of various diving operations to the depths down to 50 m and with the use of either SCUBA to 30 m or surface supply breathing equipment. There are five separate qualifications in the onshore supervisor’s training scheme:

• Diving Supervision – Aquarium;
• Diving Supervision – Occupational SCUBA to 30m (Part 1);
• Diving Supervision – Aquaculture;
• Diving Supervision – Occupational SSBA Part 2;
• Diving Supervision – Occupational SSBA Part 3.

The last module (SSBA Part 3) forms the training requirement to become an Offshore Trainee Supervisor.

Objective:

The key objective of the ADAS Onshore Supervisor course is to equip delegates with essential knowledge for the safe and efficient supervision of the different kinds of commercial diving operations. Upon completion of the training the ADAS Onshore Supervisor should be able to conduct risk assessment, supervise dives professionally, maintain the required equipment, perform hyperbaric operations and respond adequately to diving emergencies.

Course content:

Aquarium Supervisor

• Duties and responsibilities of an ADAS certified Onshore Dive Supervisor;
• Occupational Health and Safety legislation incl. hyperbaric chamber related clauses;
• Human physiology during underwater activities and necessary calculations;
• Management of divers team;
• Planning of diving operations;
• Supervision of dives;
• Hyperbaric operations;
• Diving hazards and risk management;
• Diving illnesses treatment and emergencies response;
• Equipments checking, maintenance and storage procedures;
• Supervision of Enriched air Nitrox dives (optional).

Occupational SCUBA to 30m (Part 1)

• Same with Supervision of SCUBA to 30m dives;

Aquaculture

• Same as in the first module, but with the inclusion of Supervision of Aquaculture Dives;

Occupational SSBA Part 2

There is the same course program as in Module 1 with the focus on surface supply breathing apparatus and supervision of tools’ application in dive operations.

Occupational SSBA Part 3

• Duties and responsibilities of an ADAS certified Onshore Dive Supervisor;
• Occupational Health and Safety legislation incl. hyperbaric chamber related clauses;
• Human physiology during underwater activities and necessary calculations;
• Diving hazards and risk management;
• Management of divers team;
• Planning of diving operations;
• Supervision of dives using surface supply breathing apparatus to depths down to 50m;
• Supervision of on site chamber operation;
• Administering oxygen in hyperbaric chambers and in emergency situations;
• Diving illnesses treatment and emergencies response;
• Equipments checking, maintenance and storage procedures;
• Supervision of Enriched air Nitrox dives (optional);
• Supervision of mixed gas dives (optional).

Assessment: the assessment is required after each module.

Target Audience: Experienced divers who would like a career in diving supervision.
