ADAS Diver Medical Technician (DMT) Course

The ADAS Diver Medical Technician (DMT) training is developed to ensure availability of qualified medical technicians in every occupational dive team. There are two certification modules i.e. Onshore DMT and Offshore DMT depending on the candidate’s qualification level.

Objective:

The learning outcomes of the ADAS Diver Medical Technician (DMT) training include, but are not limited to:

• Obtaining of an advanced qualification First Medical Aid to diving casualty;
• Profound knowledge of diving illnesses and treatments of occupational conditions;
• Professional response to the emergencies including hyperbaric chamber operations and oxygen treatments.

Course content:

• Duties and responsibilities of the DMT;
• Preparation for potential emergencies before dives;
• Hyperbaric chamber operations;
• Calculation with whole numbers and familiar fractions, decimals and percentages for work;
• Diving casualty assessment and treatment;
• Rescue and recovery operations;
• Oxygen administration in Hyperbaric chamber and during emergencies;
• Out-of-hospital care of diving casualty;
• First aid within a chamber or bell;
• Safety during offshore diving operations.

Assessment: there is an assessment after the ADAS Diver Medical Technician (DMT) course.

Target Audience: Onshore DMT qualification would be of interest to experienced commercial divers who are not certified at the ADAS Part 3, Part 4 or Life Support Technician (LST) level or equivalents. Meanwhile, Offshore DMT qualifications require applicants to possess ADAS Part 3, Part 4 or Assistant Life Support Technician (ALST), Life Support Technician (LST), or Life Support Supervisor (LSS) level qualification or equivalents in addition to general course pre-requisites.

Pre-requisites: Check the ADAS requirements for the course applicants.

Duration: 10 days minimum.
