Safety on the offshore installation is paramount. That’s why an Offshore Safety Representative must be elected under the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations - SI 1989/971 to conduct proactive Offshore Safety Management.

The Offshore Safety Representative Training is OPITO approved program; and includes several modules. The first is dedicated to legislation and regulatory roles and functions. Second module covers occupational hazards, human factor and risk analysis. The final is devoted to the personal commitment of Safety Representatives to their roles and bringing up responsibility and efficiency. Upon the completion of the training participants are granted with the certificates.

Although Offshore Safety Representative certificate does not have an expiry date, specialists who spent 12 consecutive weeks away from their offshore installation are subject to the Offshore Safety Representatives  (Refresher) Training.

There is also Offshore Safety Management & Legislation course which covers such topics as offshore major events, risk management, regulations and standards, development and implementation of the Offshore Safety Management System, etc.
